New Hall (Murray Edwards College), Cambridge

In 2006 AC Architects were commissioned to commence the refurbishment work on the College Bar. It is a dramatic space central to College but was under used due to poor environmental control and uncomfortable banquette style seating.

The first stage of the project was to project manage the installation of a new heating system and the carefully sourced second-hand wood block parquet floor from the 1950s, which were negotiated with the Conservation Officer and appropriate to the age and design of the building. Selection of new furniture has helped create the lounge function as originally intended for the space. A year later the room was been rewired, and the lighting updated and efficient.
