This modern grade two star listed Cambridge women’s College designed by Chamberlain Powell and Bon in the 1950s New Hall is unique. Fibreglass hoppers were designed to provide light into the Library but had reached the end of their lifespan and were leaking. The solution to the problem required looking outside the box, whilst understanding and accommodating the constraints of a major listed building. The insertion of structural glazing over the library light wells provided an effective solution to the problem.
